Water works - Tank/ sump construction.

We dug a pit with  a JCB with a size  with  capacity of about  60000 litres  but the place dimension went a little odd and we extended the length and  decreased width and increased  height. This was the  result of the digging.

After the intial filling with cement  and large sized gravel on the floor the walls work started off..

I thought it would be a quick one or two days of work .. but it went on and on and on..

Finally we ended with the tank size of 26feet length  11 feet  width and  10feet  height.

adding the supporting bars to give it the  capability of such a heavy load of water.  i guess it will be done in another few days after the plastering work is done. Then they will start the roofing work which is another  huge thing.. its almost like building a huge room with reinforced concrete!

  1. good work and i guess a lot of work, seems like Construction is the tough job..

one more thing, are you sure that the capacity of the tank is 60K lit? i feel its small for such huge quantity.. this is just my doubt..

and by the way, from where do u get so much of water every day? how do u fill the tank?

is watering a daily process? and do you need all 60K lit daily? how much water do the plants need every day?

    i know..too many questions... sorry.. :-)

  2. Yup the final capacity came up to 63,075litres... calculate .. 27*11*7.5 and resultant cubic feet convereted into litres of water..

    so 63k capacity is apt..

and the amount of water needed for each plant is half litre per day.. so for the 25000 plants we only need about 15000litres with drip irrigation .. no water will go waste at all.

and for the foggers and regular use another 10,000 litres .. soo this tank is more than sufficient for two days..

we have 3 borewells here.. which will be filling these tanks each day.

water the plants is a daily process ..its like their daily bread.. fertigation is also done with water supply only ..
