The soil filling was done after all the rocks were unearthed and pushed out with a JCB and then we had to pump in about 160 truck loads of red soil from another village nearby. The soil quality was good and we had to pay about 1300rupees for each truck load... i know thats lot of money for soil but then soil is the most important thing for the well being of the plants .. so i didnt want to compromise on this one ..or .even in the next step in soil preparation which is adding FYM or Vermicompost. we will be adding vermicompost today or tomorrow on this soil .. i am thinking of adding about 10 -12 tonnes of it

polyhouse erection, soil selection, water analysis and drip irrigation selection.
There are few things that needs to be addressed properly when you are going into any kind of farming..
so i have been trying hard to get the best possible soil from the near by regions.. have been looking for soil samples from various locations and getting it analysed for soil PH and EC in particular.
i got the water samples analysed and they seem to be ok and even if they need some changes.. It can be managed with chemical to change the PH and EC of water.
For the drip irrigation and the fogging system i have been lookng around with various companies Netafim, Finolex, John Deere, Jain etc.. will make a final decision this week and order for the materials as i wil have to get the soil into the polyhouse even before the polythene is covered and right after that we need to do the drippers installation too.
as you can see in the pics below .. the current status of work .. half done .. wil take another week to complete the rest of the structure ..
Hope everything goes well
- Proper soil
- Good water
- Adequate sunlight

Field Visit to local farms to meet fellow Farmers !!
This is Mr.Ravi Kumar's newly erected polyhouse .. his second unit owing to increase in the demand he is starting up the new unit. This farm was far away from hyderabad and it took me about an hour to reach from the city. It was somewhere near a place named Chevella . he is one of the member of the flower grower association here and has been in to this since 2 years i guess. He has about an acre or odd of Filler grass growing in open cultivation and he mentioned to me that it fetches him about 40rs per bunch of that grass. Regarding his gerberas he proudly mentions that he is able to get about 100 bundles of Gerberas with 10 each from the 560 sq.mtr polyhouse. He mostly sells them to the flower shops directly and doesnt go to the commission agent regularly to sell his produce. He was very friendly and offered to help me in any regards ..look at all the pics i took @ his site ..
